DOSE:
300 mg oral Diphenhydramine (pill / tablet)
BODY WEIGHT: 160 lb
There were two main phases with my first experience with a higher dose of Benadryl. One of them was extremely pleasant, and the second was like being in a nightmare.

A while after I took the pills, I noticed the dream-like state, euphoria, and muscle relaxation that Benadryl produces. I can’t remember exactly how long it took for the drug’s effects to set in, but I don’t think it was very long. For a while, I was content to sit in my chair, watch videos on the computer, and relish the relaxed feeling the drug produces. I was disappointed at the lack of visual hallucinations, though, since I had taken half the dose a few weeks before and had watched my leg fade in and out of existence.

I decided to go for a walk. This was a very bad idea. Even though it was 3:00 a.m. and there were very few cars on the road, going for a walk alone in this state was one of the worst decisions I have ever made. Within one block, I was trying to decide if people I saw standing by a car talking were real or not
Within one block, I was trying to decide if people I saw standing by a car talking were real or not
, and, very soon after I saw these people, I was standing on a very familiar street corner. I had no recollection of having walked there, having any intention of walking there, and it took me a few minutes to even figure out what corner I was on.

While I was walking, I saw an SUV full of loud kids, about my age, who yelled to me as they passed. I’m not sure if they were real or not, either.

The whole time I was out, I noticed little ripples in my vision. I thought of them as tiny invisible animals, and kept going. Soon, I saw silhouettes in the distance who kept walking, but never got any closer. As I approached, they disappeared. Even though I realized that they were not real, the thought of seeing more of them frightened me. Soon, I was heading back for my house in absolute terror. As I was walking back, a larger version of the invisible animals followed me, but in a strange way. It appeared to be a tiny invisible man who was doing backflips to chase me.

When I got home, I wanted to either end the experience immediately or go to sleep. I was afraid of seeing one of the silhouettes in my room as I was going to sleep, so I turned on all the lights in my room and fell asleep that way.

The most important thing with this drug, I think, is to have someone with you, even if you aren’t planning on going outside, since your judgement will be severely clouded. The mental effects are extremely strong. I was terrified of things that I knew were not real, and unsure of the reality of anything which seemed normal. This being said, it does have some extremely nice effects, and I do plan to try a higher dose in a few months, but with a sober friend to keep me from doing anything stupid, this time.
