DOSE:
1 tablet oral Vitamins - Niacin (capsule)
1 tablet oral Aspirin (pill / tablet)
  125 mg IV Cocaine
    repeated IV Cocaine
BODY WEIGHT: 200 lb
This will be two-part. First-half, the experience. Then, some meta-thoughts directed at ex or current heroin IV addicts.

1. I never much liked stimulants. More into downers. Heroin was my drug. However, that couldn't last I stopped completely about 7 years ago. For no good reason at all, I did a line of coke when it was offered at a party about 6 months ago. Fast-forward to now, I've progressed to main-lining it. Always increasing the amount done in a session. Recently got an 8-ball (3.5 g) and that is the experience I will run through here.

I chewed up an adult sized aspirin before starting. Also took a B-complex vitiam, that had 250 mg of niacin. Aspirin is effective as a blood-thinner, so lets the old ticker work a little less laboriously. Niacin is a vasiodialator, since cocaine constricts the veins, seemed like it would be reasonable to ingest, but that is a not a well-documented thing to do, just a un-scientific theory of mine.

[Erowid Note: Two samples of powder (even of the same chemical) with equivalent volumes won't necessarily weigh the same. For this reason, eyeballing is an inaccurate and potentially dangerous method of measuring, particularly for substances that are active in very small amounts. See this article on The Importance of Measured Doses.]
I get my coke in bags by the gram. I split a bag into like-sized piles. Well, to be a little cautious with the first shot, I do about half of a pile, so ~.125 g to start. Hitting the vein is easy. Pushing the plunger back in, I can taste it before reaching the end of the barrel. Hard to describe.. a metallic, acidic taste/smell. Hard to locate as well, not on the tounge, but back in there somewhere. I love the initial few minutes of tinnitus (ringing in the ears), and listen to ambient music on the headphones after taking the shot. The fuller the soundscapes, the more you be aware of effect. I always have the lights dim, lay in bed with my head propped up with a few pillows, making sure not to stress more the body moreso. Breathing calmly, staying fairly still and relaxed helps me manage if a shot is too big.

[Erowid Note: The doses described in this report are potentially life threatening. The amount taken is beyond a heavy dose and could pose serious health risks or result in unwanted, extreme effects. Doses such as this have been known to cause hospitalizations and/or deaths. Sometimes extremely high doses reported are errors rather than actual doses used.]
At first, I take a shot, every 45-60 min. Then, I want it sooner. 30 min. Then about 15-20 min. Taking bigger shots, up around .5 grams. But it has diminishing returns. Hard to capture the ringing... the rush. Then it is hard to hit a vein. Really hard. They seem to have dissapeered. Hands are shakey, and can't keep the needle in place once I finally hit blood. This leads to missed shots. Terrible for the area, and prime for causing an abscess. I get desperate to get the drug in me, but the barrel of the syringe is so blood red that it is too hard to tell if I am in a vein at all. More missed shots... 50, 60, 70 different needle pokes over the course of the binge.

Then I notice.. when there is only about .5 grams left... my body is really stuggling to circulate. Extremities are cold and red. Face is twitching. Sharp little electrical pains in the neck. Abdomen is hot and the aorta inside is racing. Feels like it could be the end. Hoping to make it through. Hoping the veins will get better.

I do make it OK in the end. However, the internal, long-time damage may show up another day.

2. For those who came to have a love for the needle, I do have some cautionary thoughts. As a heroin addict, I came to love the process of cooking up, watching the lazy, dark blood tumble into the barrel. Almost as much as the high itself. I would even shoot up water when I didn't have any junk. With heroin though, you do your shot, and you are good for the time being... a few hours if not a day. With coke though, I keep shooting and shooting until I am out. This is terrible for the veins. No chance for them the heal, doing a lot of damage in one session. Then there is all the stress on the heart over the binge, possiblity of seizure, and infections by missing your shots.

Heroin actually seems like it was a lot easier in some ways to manage in retrospect. Of course, there is the physical dependence with coke, but the mental is just as hard an addiction to break.
