DOSE:
32 mg sublingual Pharms - Buprenorphine
  8 mg sublingual Naloxone
BODY WEIGHT: 250 lb
In the 1980's I had a $400/day street heroin addiction. I finally got tired of this treadmill and went on Methadone, initially 160mg/day and down to 80mg as quickly as possible, as this was the federally mandated administrative limit at the time. After 2 years of zombie-like existence and loss of humanity (I once had the flu and puked my juice up 10 minutes after I drank it. Needless to say, I puked it into a glass and redrank the puke. I rationalized that it was no worse than injecting a syringe full of dope and blood clots) I did a 21 day detox at a psychiatric hospital. I was depressed and subject to muscle and joint pain for a year and it was 2 years before had a solid bowel movement. In retrospect, the 10 bundle a day kick would have been harder but faster and given the opportunity I would tell anyone that given the opportunity I would choose this option.

Easier said then done, as after 12 years of avoiding narcotics, I injured my back and was prescribed hydrocodone. Within 3 months I was doing 50 10/325 Lortab daily. After a year of this I was financially and spiritually bankrupt and knew I had to quit. A friend told me of a doctor who was doing long-term Suboxone maintenance and I signed up immediately.

Now we come to the point BEWARE: suboxone is the methadone for the new millennium. The doctor charged $1,500 US per month and believed that any attempt to detox sooner than 24 months was 'medically inadvisable'

. Suboxone is dope, you will still nod off at work, you will still burn cigarette holes in your clothes and thighs. You will still lose your job and eventually you have to detox from the 'bupe'. this is purely subjective, but the suboxone detox made the methadone detox seem like child's play! Suboxone is society's way of dealing with addicts, the new wonder treatment, just like cocaine was going to help morphine addicts detox. Don't buy into the hype!
