I have been using Salvia occasionally for a few years now, and I think I am finally starting to make sense of my experiences and their effects on me.

The first few times I tried it, it was absolutely horrifying (getting caught in loops and such), each time swearing off of it forever. I have since realized that I always have a good trip if I smoke it by myself on my bed with the lights out (I strongly recommend having a sitter present for your first few times though).

These recent trips seem to be fairly uniform, more so than any other substance I've tried - it starts with a general.. wobbly tingliness? ..difficult to describe sensation. The only way I can really describe the next part it is that its like being in a completely different universe in which nothing is familiar, and having that universe slowly shift and fade back into this universe. (Last night I had some Salvia and I remember trying very hard to figure out what a blanket was, as there was one on me and it seemed completely foreign to me.) Anyway, once things start coming back to normal, I get a sense of being very excited to be back home and I always end up drawing and/or writing something. For the next half hour or so, I have a kind of afterglow - happy and somewhat stoned.

Salvia definitely has some lasting anti-depressant effects on me

as well - when I get flipped into the completely different universe, any psychological/emotional baggage I've acquired throughout the day stays in this universe. I feel very refreshed after it's over and even through the next day. Sometimes I even smoke Salvia the night before a test at school or a job interview so that my mind will be more clear.
