Effexor Might Help Tramadol Addiction

While tramadol has absolutely no pain relieving effects for me, I became addicted due to its anti-depressant properties: increased sociability, energy, happiness, etc. Without the 'high' of an opiate. After 3 years on high doses, I began to worry about my kidneys and liver and cold-turkeyed. I am not the type who can 'wean' as if the drug is in the house I will take it all. The most awful part of tramadol withdrawal is the constant sobbing, in the store, at the bus stop, in church, anywhere. It is completely uncontrollable. I had some diarrhea and nausea but nothing like I see from opiate w/d's. I read about the similarities between Effexor and tramadol and decided to give it a try. I started with 75 XR and factually, the first day I used the Effexor the crying and diarrhea stopped. I realize SNRI's can't work that fast for depression, but something in the drug stopped that sobbing and got me through the withdrawal.
