It has been many years since I first tried salvia, but I remember it like it was yesterday. I have always been fond of psychedelics, and after doing a little research salvia really piqued my interest. I had to try it.

So I found a reputable supplier online, and ordered an ounce of leaves (just the leaves them selves can be very potent and much cheaper) and a few grams of 10x extract. I kept it in my fridge and waited for a special occasion.

Well, after about a week the special occasion never came and my patience was wearing thin. So one night I got home at around 2:00am after being out all night with my friends smoking a lot of weed. I packed a bowl of extract in a little metal pipe. I turned off all the lights in my apartment expect for one candle I had burning behind me. It was very dark and completely silent, which I think makes a huge difference in the experience. I find the less sensory input the better.

I sat down in my recliner and took two big hits in quick secession, holding the last one as long as I could. I immediately started feeling the effects. At first I had a very dissociative feeling about reality. I was aware of my surroundings and knew where I was. It's just that my surroundings and all of reality had lost meaning. Then I felt as though giant hands were reaching around from behind me and opening up my chest. The sensation felt so real. I felt like my chest was split open (not in a painful way at all) and my soul was exposed to the air. Then I saw what looked like spirits flying in and out of my soul. I could feel them flying in and out of me. The 'spirits' looked more like shadowy figures then anything vivid. I was a little afraid while all this was happening, not terrified just a little disturbed. But that passed quickly and the notion came to me that these 'spirits' meant no harm.

All this subsided rather quickly (probably quicker then it seemed) and I was back to baseline and ready for bed. It was an interesting experience to say the least and nothing like anything else I've done since. I tried salvia many times since and never had what I would call a bad experience. Too bad it's now illegal in the state of Florida.
