With complaint of sleeplessness, my doctor prescribed me thirty 0.25mg tabs of the benzodiazepine triazolam (Halcion).

He first suggested an anti-histamine treatment; I brought up my susceptibility to next-day-drowsiness and a general discomfort while on the drug. His next course of action: benzodiazepines. Though I’m only seventeen, he had no problem prescribing me the controlled substance. He nonchalantly compared the effects of Halcion to alcohol and marijuana. At this time, I realized the potential of the drug I was about to procure free of charge—I had a very difficult time not cracking a grin; continuing to act like a responsible young adult simply in need of a good nights sleep.

When I got the shit, I immediately noticed a green label wrapped around the bottle; “DO NOT eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit at any time while on this medication”. I became intrigued. Through research I found that grapefruit is a CYP3A4 inhibitor—making certain drugs metabolize slower increasing the amount in the bloodstream—meaning… more fucked up, and fucked up for longer. Sweet. I also found that a ranitidine, a drug I happened to have lying around also positively affects the concentration of triazolam in the bloodstream, whether it be a CYP3A4 inhibitor or it simply protects the drug from harsh stomach acid allowing more to be processed.

Blahblahblahblah anyways...

I took 300mg ranitidine waited something like 20 minutes, ingested .25mg of triazolam, ate a grapefruit, and then ingested another .25mg. I felt somewhat intoxicated; drunk without the mental clouding or the spins, high without any real marijuana specific feelings. It was basically just an overall warm buzz. I also noticed an extremely relaxed mental state, one that reduced all anxieties and worries to an insignificant murmur faintly heard against the foreground of my mind, yelling something like, “fuckyeah fucking grapefruit I feel great fuck fuck yeah hahashit I'm tired”.

I smoked a bowl and went to bed, the end.
