About a year ago I heard of this interesting plant name Kava that is supposed to work wonders on pesky feelings of anxiety and stress. As I did more research, I also discovered that it can also produce a fun intoxicated feeling. Being a writer in need of inspiration, as well as an occasional sufferer of anxiety, I decided to give Kava a try.
I finally found some Kava tea at a natural foods store and brewed it up as soon as I got home. 'Not recommended for pregnant women or children under 18 years of age.' Was written on the box, which made me feel more excited and eager to try it. Obviously if they didnt want kids and pregnant chicks trying this stuff, then it must be decently potent. I decided to only do one tea bag, seeing that I am a small girl and unaware of the true potency of this stuff.

Each tea bag had 78mg of Kava Root Extract and 30% Kalvactones. After making one cup of tea, I went to my room, set my notebook in front of me and I drank the tea down at a decent pace. I was ready to feel relaxed and hoping to alleviate this temporary writer's block that had been bothering me.
About ten minutes passed and I didn't feel much except for a slight feeling of relaxation as well as a bit of a numbing feeling on my tongue. More minutes had passed and I felt the same. I was beginning to feel dissapointed, thinking that this stuff was overrated and that this tea was no different from chamomile or any other bedtime tea.
After about 30 minutes I felt as if I had taken about 3 hits of decent weed. My room felt bigger, and I began to have a pleasant warm feeling throughout my body. I felt more and more relaxed and happy as the minutes went by.
I wanted some music to chill out to and put on one of my favorite bands, The Flaming Lips. I grabbed my notebook and decided that now would be the best time to brainstorm and do some writing. I found myself having odd and hilarious thoughts, sort of like the thoughts one has when stoned. At that moment my friend called, and we began having a completely random conversation. I began to laugh at everything he was saying. He told me that he saw a toddler walking towards his mom that day, and that the tolddler had falled and started crying. I began laughing my ass off. I then started telling him about how funny old people are when they fall, and began to laugh even harder. (Normally, I would not laugh at others being injured, but as you can see this was a special situation.)
Overall I found Kava to be very enjoyable, a mildly stoned feeling.
