I Have Noticed No Alterations in the Subjective Effects
DMT & Buprenorphine/Nalaxone
Citation:   experiencer . "I Have Noticed No Alterations in the Subjective Effects: An Experience with DMT & Buprenorphine/Nalaxone (exp79747)". Erowid.org. May 5, 2021. erowid.org/exp/79747

DOSE:
30 mg   DMT
8 mg   Pharms - Buprenorphine (daily)
  2 mg   Naloxone (daily)
BODY WEIGHT: 150 lb
DMT and Suboxone

I have been taking 8mg suboxone (buprenorphine) for 1 year. Through-out this year I have also done DMT on many occasions both at the very beginning of my suboxone taking period as well as recently. I have also taken DMT on many occasions without the use of any opiates. I have noticed no alterations in the subjective effects of DMT when an opiate is ingested. Nothing is potentiated nor is anything attenuated.

The strong visuals and strong psychological effects characteristic of DMT are still present. These include swirling morphing geometric fields made up of of multiple colored patterns, and shapes. Faces, objects and beings morph out of a kaleidoscope matrix of morphing shapes and colors.

Landscapes and beings with eyes closed are common with the higher doses. These beings sometimes communicate in a telepathic feeling manner rather than through sound. The information is typically not clear but the sense of communication and meaning is. These closed eye visuals are always more complex and tend to have a complex intricate nature deeper than any other hallucinogen I have experienced. Open eye are strong as well but not as complex and intricate as closed eye. With eyes open there is a tryptamine glow, a transparent glaze over objects in the visual field. Patterns, shapes, and faces will morph in and out of this field which is a shimmery transparent rainbow to blue like color. There is also some object distortions. Letter on a book will take on the appearance of novel archaic symbols, walls will breath, shrink, expand....

Body effects include euphoria (enhanced by opiates but especially prominent with DMT anyway), a sense of warmth. Even a mild nitrous oxide feel (although which is more common with 5-MeO-DMT). It is not uncommon to have strange morphing somatosensory sensations as well (again more prominent with 5-MeO-DMT).

There are also strong mental effects and depending on the trip these can outweigh the visuals in certain instances. Thoughts about life, relationships, past memories are common. Novel insights about these subjects also occur. On higher doses confusion can occur and thoughts and perception can become entangled. This can be disorienting at first.

No significant noticeable interaction between opiates and hallucinogens appears to occur as I as well as friends have had these effects with DMT, mushrooms and many other hallucinogens (DET, DPT, 5-MeO-DMT, 5-MeO-DIPT, 2c-I ) on opiates. The opiate effect may have a calming effect although this is due to the opiate effect rather than any interaction between the DMT and opiate. Thus when I combine them I have the effects of both, although the DMT far out weighs the opiates. I find opiates to be an nice calming addition to the experience and may make it more comforting and euphoric.
