Long story short, I planned a small rolling party with a few old friends. One of my friends, Parker, asked me if it was okay if she took Claritin-D before hand, and was wondering if it would affect her roll. It was her first time; she had never taken MDMA previous to this night. I told her I thought there should be little to no interaction between Claritin and MDMA. I would later find out I was wrong.

We all dosed 100 mg MDMA around 11:00 and came up around 12:00. All of us, except for Parker, who was feeling absolutely nothing. We continued to dose her with 100 mg doses each hour until about 3:00 am (400 mg), and she was still feeling absolutely no effects besides a racing heart and some jaw clenching. Then as we were all standing outside smoking together, I had an epiphany. 'Aha! Claritin-D! The D stands for decongestant. Let me see the box!' She showed me the box, and sure enough, one pill contained 120 mg of pseudoephedrine sulfate. I had read from many sources that CNS stimulants such as Cocaine and Amphetamines have the potential to kill the roll, so to speak. So, I hypothesized, it would make logical sense that a very close analogue to Amphetamine and PNS stimulant such as pseudoephedrine would also block the roll. We were all disappointed but at least we figured out the cause.

I made one last attempt at 4:00 am to dose her once more with 100 mg MDMA, and I also gave her 1600 mg piracetam, since piracetam is rumored to potentiate MDMA. After about an hour, her mood seemed to be lifted somewhat, but she never reached the level that the rest of us had managed to reach. Subjectively, I would say she was somewhere around 1/10 of the level the rest of us had achieved.

About a week later, she called me from a rave to let me know that she had taken another pill and was rolling VERY hard. This led me to further conclude that there was a very likely connection between the pseudophedrine and her roll (or lack thereof).
