Having taken Adderall tablets for several years to control ADHD (10 - 30 mgs, average of 20 mg single dose daily), I found this med unpleasant. What others enjoy (rush, intensity) I've found disconcerting. It *did* allow me to achieve focus, but at a cost. I have been taking this med as prescribed and recently switched to one which is not neurotoxic: Dextroamphetamine ER 10 mg 1x in AM. All legal and above-board.

Meanwhile, during my vacations from the increasingly irritating Adderall tablets, I became aware of the racetams. I'd heard about Nootropics, but didn't understand how very useful they can be (and are). I realize Piracetam is 'old news' but it's also much less expensive than the other more popular racetams available OTC in the US. I researched in order to know precisely what I needed to take with Piracetam for optimum effect. I've found the combo of 1 gram Piracetam to 500 mg Citicoline to be quite interesting. I felt a reasonable level of focus and awareness, felt calm and an enhanced sense of well-being. Great that this is still available without Rx here in the US.

I no longer take the Adderall. What a relief! My Doctor has changed my med to Dextroamphetamine ER, 10 mg 1 in AM. This is far superior to Adderall. And please do not tell me Adderall XR would be a 'better experience.' Adderall is like being shot out of a cannon ~ and, even at low dosage levels, long term it is doing damage. If I wanted an extreme adrenaline rush, I'd jump out of an airplane or protest at a Palin rally.

So, I am now doing damage control and remediation with these 'Smarts'. I'll undoubtedly adjust the dosage of Piracetam up slightly and possible the Citicoline down to about half at my next vacation break.
