First Time and a Spiritual Awakening

I didn't know anything about Salvia before trying it the first time. I assumed that it would be like 'Spice', the pot-like substance sold in smoke shops. My good friend and I decided to try some and the smoke shop owner gave us a rundown on strengths, they had 20 x through 60 x. We decided on 40 x. He warned us not to drive on it (I giggle now at the thought of even attempting such a thing!).

My friend and I are both 'seekers' and spiritual people, so this put us in a good frame of mind, I think. Back at my house, we loaded a bowl of spice and put salvia on top. He went first while I watched. After holding the smoke in for about twenty seconds, he put the bowl down and I took it away. He looked at his hands and seemed to pass out. He said random things like, 'they are coming to take me on a trip!' I had no idea. After about four minutes, he got up and insisted I smoke some. We didn't talk about his experience yet.

So same bowl, spice with salvia on top. I took a hit, held it in and released. The first thing I felt was my hands tingling. I was on my couch and suddenly felt a 'pulling' sensation. Pulling me backwards. The back half of my body felt separate from the front. The back half was being 'absorbed' into my surroundings; the couch, the wall, the air. I remember a momentary fear, then an almost immediate acceptance. 'So THIS is true reality' was the feeling. I couldn't reason, analyze or think. My conscious mind was all but gone. But I still WAS.

I saw my surroundings but knew somehow that it was just illusion. That I was now experiencing 'reality'. I started coming back and was surprised. I had accepted my new reality so readily and completely. Once I was able to speak again, I said 'what the FUCK was THAT?'

I was relieved to be back, but now had an understanding. For a while before this experience, I had an 'intellectual' understanding that this world was illusion, that we are spiritual beings having a human experience. But until salvia, I didn't fully GET it. My salvia trip was a gateway to show me that we eternally exist, but not as 'thinking' or 'reasoning' beings. We are all one. Our spirits (or higher-selves) always are, were, and will be. Reality, this earth reality, is an elaborate tool for learning.

I shared my experience with my friend, and he shared his. Amazingly, his was similar. 'Reality' melted away and he accepted it and was shocked to return.

Since then, I have had this in my mind and have seen life very differently. We create our 'reality', good or bad. So why not create good? We are here for a purpose. I don't want to waste it.

I have done salvia three more times since then, and all but one was a 'pleasant' experience. The last one, the unpleasant one, was a very large hit from a hookah, and not mixed with spice. I also had been drinking, so that might have affected it. I have come to the conclusion that salvia is to be used for spiritual enlightenment, and not mixed with other drugs or alcohol. Not a party drug.
