I was recovering from a cold and had a terrible, hacking cough that made my throat bleed and felt like I was trying to expel a minor demon from my chest cavity. I was prescribed codeine and took twice the recommended dose for three days, and slept extremely soundly, which was very relieving, as I was in the middle of a demanding academic semester. The period between dosage and sleep was pleasant, with dulled touch and minor auditory changes. I enjoyed floaty contemplative states until falling into uneventful sleeps.
