Salvia Is Not a Party Experience

I'm a 65 year old male who went through the drug years of the sixties. I've smoked weed, DMT, banana skins (LOL), ingested several kinds of mushrooms, done some peyote, taken over 100 hits of LSD all with varying effects from good to nightmarish. I've done cocaine, meth (hate meth), eaten fresh hash, smoked regular hash, done all the downers on the market, tried ritalin, valium and of course alcohol and caffeine. I guess I was lucky in that I'm a baby when it comes to needles so I never shot anything. However, in the last 20 years or so, I've not indulged in any psychedelics and not many other drugs. I quit weed except on a few occasions at parties with friends. I do use a little valium for sleeping only and some Ultram for joint pain.

I have been reading about Salvia for several years now and have been wanting to try it for quite some time.

One never knows what you are going to get when ordering online but this time, I got exactly what I paid for and was extremely happy about the whole experience. I think I entered into the experience with enough knowledge about psychedelics to know that what was ahead could be unpredictable; possibly very good and possibly something very negative. You have to have an open mind and take what comes calmly and without panic. Which brings me to the fact that overdosing is not wise. More is not better. Start slow and give yourself time to contemplate the effects. When I was 19 years old, I took LSD for the first time. I thought it was going to be a party drug and blasted into the psychedelic world totally out of control at a party where alcohol was king. Big mistake. All the drunks looked like they were retarded people. It was a horrific experience. I didn't drink for a year after that.

I started my Salvia experience with one hit out of a glass pipe. Not much happened. I took another big hit and could feel a little pressure inside the top of my head but still, not much. Then, on the third hit, I was slammed. It wasn't that overwhelming but I was still VERY loaded. I could feel a bit of panic start to overcome me but I was in control enough to know, I had to calm down and take it easy. The panic stage with psychedelics can be overwhelming because of the adrenaline rush that intensifies, usually negatively, the experience. My world, visually, was turning into a sort of vortex/abyss. Everything around me was changing and had significance. What that means is that I could see beyond my own world into a more ethereal understanding of the connections between all things around me. I suppose that only makes sense if you've done psychedelics before. The peak lasted only about 5 minutes with the back side very smooth and contemplative.

I would like to go much further with the experience but I don't think it's prudent to do it without a 'guide' because from what I read, I could leave the present reality and be somewhere else making things like stairs, sharp corners and other dangers a possible hazard to my health.

I have a feeling that Salvia could possibly help with behavior modification if used properly with meditation. Today, 12 hours later, I feel more at peace, more relaxed and still feel a little of the high although it's very subtle.

Happy Sailing,
Esteban
