It might be the effexor xr taking hold of my brain (I've been on it for about a month) combined with not taking adderall xr the day before. Previously, I had hallucinated that my mother was in my apartment but she was fuzzy like light was shining through her opaque body - that was without n2o.

The hallucination was very different this time. I was lying in bed around 5am. I had woken up early, unable to fall back asleep and decided to do a whippet. I breathed in a little oxygen with my n2o and within about 5-10s the light changed hue slightly and suddenly, different neon colored hollow geometric shapes started pouring out of my AC vent near the ceiling. Triangles, hexagons, circles, etc. They flowed toward me like on a stream of air rotating individually and bouncing against one another as they flowed along the ceiling traveling from the vent across the ceiling above my head in a straight 2D path before disappearing above me where the wall and ceiling met (behind my bed's headboard).

It lasted a good 45s before the colors began to pale and the shapes' outlines began to lose their sharp contrast as they fuzzed/phased/disintegrated inwardly until the shapes disappeared altogether. The light's hues began to phase back to normal. I noticed that the flow of shapes had occured in the shade of my room and that shade (created as the morning light cast upon a wall protrusion where the adjacent kitchen space bulked into my apartment space) created a corridor of shade. Nothing happened outside that shaded region during this hallucination.

I was ecstatic! I smoked a cigarette while emailing a friend and then tried again. This time, I saw almost the same thing with the light changing hues except now the shapes were very fuzzy and resembled radial clusters of fine particles (instead of sharp geometric outlines) flowing away from the vent along the ceiling toward me and disappearing where the wall met the ceiling. This hallucination lasted about 35-45s. At the end, the particle clusters faded away but a bright point of purple light positioned at the top right corner of the vent appeared from which it radiated out, making the the entire room diffuse with purple before the point of light faded as did the deep purple light before finally the light hues returned to normal.

I tried again. This time, little tiny stairs appeared and bigger versions of those same stairs appeared below the original stairs on each side of the vent. The two sets of stairs mirrored each other and extended along the length of the ceiling. To better picture it, imagine looking at a brick wall outline head on and lay an inverted solid pyramid shape on top so that you can only see the unconcealed brick outline. Now take the bottom part of the whole image and lift it up toward you like a piece of paper and tape the paper to the ceiling. Anyway, tiny balls started bouncing down the stairs disappearing into random blocks (as if being dropped into that particular stair block). Eventually, as I focused on one set of stairs, that portion of that staircase would disappear as if being sucked into an invisible singularity. As I shifted focus to other portions of either staircase, they, too disappeared in the same fashion. Finally, on the ceiling and wall to my right, a very large dim, fading image of a Jewish woman with a huge orange afro appeared. She was looking out to the sliding glass doors at the end of my studio apartment. She then turned her face back to look at me. Her facial expression was one of confused and only slightly disgusted amazement/bewilderment. She looked back to the sliding glass doors as she faded. Finally, the light hues returned to normal.

I was trying not to giggle every single time. It was like I was a small child looking at a planetarium's ceiling for the first time. Drugs I'm on: effexor xr 150mg 1/day, adderall xr 40mg 1/day, neurontin/gabapentin 1200mg 4/day, trazodone 150mg 1/night, remeron 45mg 1/night, and nicotine.
