I'm an adult with moderate experience with hallucinogens. My psychedelic voyages are few and far between yet approached with respect and anticipation.

This said, I still was a tad cavalier in my first encounter with salvia. A small pinch of 10x fortified leaf taken in a single bong hit... And within a couple of minutes, reality began to tear apart at the seams.

The oft-noted physical hallucinations/sensations were present. This phenomena was unlike anything I've ever experienced and was somewhat disconcerting in its seeming reality and overall weirdness. Pushing, pulling; like being handled from behind. Or like being a puppet on strings, blown by wind. Like my peripheral vision is tugging at my body from this direction or that; or a sense of being physically connected to my envorionment and having to exert energy to pull free of it.

The peak did not last long; perhaps five minutes. After which I felt pretty good. Open, like the mellow afterglow of a mushroom trip. Hands were sweaty, felt like I had some energy. But otherwise, nothing profound. Having learned to respect the profound, ancient and clear space of psylocybin and lsd, salvia is something of a disappointment. Despite the intensity of the psychedelic peak, this substance does not open the mind in the same way. At least, not for me.

I guess I'd call salvia a potent psychedelic novelty. A brief and intense ride for the adventurous, but of limited value to expand mind and soul. Not sure I will do it again.

This stuff should always come with a sincere, brotherly warning to the uninitiated.
