Fractals and Iridescence

DOSE:
15 mg oral 2C-E (pill / tablet)
BODY WEIGHT: 145 lb
This was my first experience with any drug other than marijuana and alcohol, and it was one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. A friend had been telling me about his fantastic 2C-E trips, and eventually after much careful research, mostly online I agreed.

We each took one 15mg pill with water at approximately 12:45 PM—in the middle of Times Square, if you can believe it. We trekked to a movie theater twenty blocks away and sat down for a screening of Wes Anderson’s “Moonrise Kingdom.” Around 45 minutes into the movie I began to feel a bit odd—sort of tense and nauseous, as if I was about to vomit. I told myself that everything was fine, and it turned out to be so. The movie started taking on odd qualities, mainly unexplainable significance—I felt as though the dialog was a deep part of the human psyche, which may well just have been Wes Anderson’s excellent writing (I’ve vowed to watch it again while sober). The character’s faces distorted sometimes, as if intermittent layers of water were covering the screen.

As soon as we left the movie theater, the drug’s effects became very clear. Everything was vibrant and sharp-edged, made even better by the contrast of dark theater and bright outside. I tried to explain the deep significance I had felt in the movie to my friend and found myself lost for words, unable to put a definition on the experience.

We walked around for a while, heading to Central Park. We sat on the Great Lawn for a while, watching people play Frisbee and talking about how we felt. The sky was absolutely gorgeous, satin clouds on a silver-blue backdrop. Birds, balls, and discs left elegant traces in the air behind them, and actually seemed to project traces in front of them as well. I remember birds being one of the best things to look at during this trip.

Eventually we got up and moved to a tree-shaded hill, where I lay down and looked up through the leaves. I think this was the single best part of the trip. The leaves kept organizing themselves into Fibonacci spirals, and everywhere I looked they got more and more fractally intricate. The tree itself glowed, and I felt like I could see the xylem and phloem pulsing through its branches and trunk. It took my breath away, and I spent a good five minutes trying to describe the utter beauty of it to my friend, who is not familiar with fractals or Fibonacci sequences in nature.

The next six hours or so were a fast-paced romp through New York City. We went to the Met, where the soft white stones of the walls and floor interested me as much as did the ancient sculptures. We walked to Chelsea Market and bought a book each—I got The Master and Margarita, he got Galapagos—and read for an hour. Then we headed back to my apartment and calmed down with some Netflix and, near the very end, a bowl of marijuana (this was equally to calm our nerves and to enhance our appetite—we hadn’t eaten all day and I wasn’t feeling any signs of hunger, which was unnerving.)

The whole day is characterized in my mind by vivid colors and sharp contrasts. The people of the city became beautiful, and I found myself admiring nearly everyone in an equally nonsexual light, simply looking at their features and how unique they were. Another sensation that lasted throughout the trip was of pleasing physical fitness. I’m a skinny guy, and I’d been working out a bit more than usual, so the whole day I felt like a taut spring.

At the dosage I took it provides a brilliant, crystal-clear and very memorable experience. I'm glad I tripped during the day -- sunlight is too beautiful on 2C-E to miss.
