I’ve been experimenting lately with combinations of various herbal tinctures which I prepare myself. This report will describe my experience with a combination tincture of Kratom and Kanna, both at a 1:10 (1 part herb to 10 parts alcohol) ratio. Along with the tincture I also took one 60 mg 25% standardized gingko capsule, as an enhancer, as I feel gingko tends to be an enhancer of different herbs.
I had just gotten home from work and I was rather tired. I decided to drink a Sun-Drop (~60mgs caffeine) to wake up a bit and do some dishes. Whilst doing the dishes I also toked on a bowl of cannabis. Finally when I was done I felt the need to relax a bit more, so I made a potion of sorts consisting of 2 mL each of my Kratom and Kanna tinctures diluted in about 25-30 mL of water. Here is the timeline of events:
12:39 AM – I drank the Kratom/Kanna infused water. Like most alkaloidal substances, it tasted bitter and rather nasty. I chased it with some water.
I decided to fire up the Nintendo and play some games to judge the effects of this combination. I also toked here and there on some cannabis; note that I believe this combo potentates that to a degree as well.
12:45 – I took the aforementioned gingko. No effects of the tincture are yet noted.
12:49 – A slight body high is noticed while I’m lying down playing video games. My lips tingled a little bit and I felt as if I didn’t even want to play the game anymore. I was playing a baseball game and my reaction time was way off. Not something to be driving under the influence of. I eventually quit because I was losing and that was no fun.
It was around 1:10 when I decided to lie down for a bit and just listen to music. I closed my eyes and noticed some mild closed eye visuals consisting of “rainbow static” balls and blobs. Nowhere near the amazing CEV’s from psilocybin mushrooms, but visuals nonetheless. I felt totally relaxed at this point and ready to go to bed, but as the music changed, I felt more awake. This combo is definitely good for listening to music and seems to be more of a nighttime combo. Rainbow speckles sometimes would appear among shadowed areas.
1:19 – I felt a nice body high or energy flowing through me, so warm and tingly, so relaxed as I lay on the floor listening to music. I decided against more caffeine, it would have kept me awake for the experience, and it is a good combo in my opinion, but I needed to go to bed.
1:26 – I was going to go to bed but the music sounded really interesting, so I stayed up to listen to a few songs. It was very relaxing and really chill. I also noticed around this point that five minutes seemed like ten, time was slightly distorted for me. At this time, I would say the effects of the tinctures had reached their full potential. At around 1:29, I noted more rainbow static CEV’s and a moment of total relaxation. A short time later, I fell asleep.
In summary, this combination induced relaxation quite well. Music played well with it as it sounded very interesting and enhanced the experience. Hand-eye coordination and reaction time were off, so video games was not as fun under its power. I would not drive under its influence. Caffeine and toking on a bowl of cannabis enhanced the experience a bit as well.
If needed, I re-dose 2-3 hours later to extend the experience. In my experience, it works well to induce relaxation and sleep when I leave out the caffeine. Overall, I felt it was a pleasurable experience with no hangover the day after.
