I take 80 Mg. Baclofen/day to treat my alcoholism. Below is a 'trip report' of what I experience when taking this compound:
T=0:00: 80 Mg. Baclofen taken orally.
T=0:45: Muscle relaxation sets in, albeit not very noticeable.
T=1:00: Definately calmer now, with a greater desire to daydream.
t=2:00: Muscle relaxation is now in full force, not unlike a small dose of Soma. No noted sedation; mild somnolescence present. These symptoms persist for about three hours.
T=4:00: Somnolescence subsides and is replaced by an uncomfortable dizziness, almost identical to the dizziness felt hours after drinking several alcoholic drinks in succession ('the room is spinning.'). Mild nausea present. Appetite is suppressed.
T=6:00: Dizziness subsides; end of trip report.
Note: I know from experience that this compound is effective against mild/moderate alcohol withdrawal. It will treat the insomnia that accompanies EtOH withdrawal, facilitating sleep. It is not very effective against the morning jitters, however, nor does it raise the seizure threshold.
