When I was in high school, the depression I had been struggling with for the majority of my life was finally taken seriously enough for me to be able to speak to a professional, who prescribed me Effexor at one point.

I took it for several months, to the best of my recollection, and it was awful. I recall feeling permanently nauseated, and my hands shaking badly enough that my writing was affected. I do not recall if I had an extremely minor tremour before this that the medication severely heightened, but I do know that I have a slight tremour in my hands to this day that is exacerbated by feeling ill or carrying heavy things.

Very rarely, and usually when I feel quite ill or highly stressed, my hands will shake badly enough to make typing difficult. It is frustrating, but not particularly detrimental and subtle enough normally to be unnoticable for others as well as easily forgotten.

It was not worth it at all and I would never take it again. I will strongly suggest, however, for anyone who reads this to NOT take from my experience that anti-depressants or other psych meds are bad inherently.

I am on Prozac now and have been for years, and it gave me my life back.
