I’m a 19-year-old female, and I’ve toyed with drugs in the past—pot, shrooms, beer if that counts—but am by no means a veteran. I’ve had a hankering for slow drugs recently, due to my ridiculously high-strung nature. I wanted to try DXM, but I’m on a prescription of 20mg Prozac daily, and I’ve heard SSRIs can interact badly with DXM. Pot would’ve been nice, but I’m living with family at the moment and they’d have a fit if I did anything illegal. I’d heard Dramamine was good too, but the highs, so I’d heard, could last days. So, that left DPH.

I was surprised at how easy it was to find pure DPH. I just grabbed some regular Benadryl. By comparison, obtaining pure DXM is a bloody nightmare.

I drank a can of beer a few hours before dropping the pills. In retrospect, that may have been a bad idea, since I’ve heard alcohol can interact badly with DPH, but I risked it anyway because I figured a light dose couldn’t possibly do any harm.

At 9:15 PM that evening, I tentatively popped three pills—75 mg. I’m only 120 pounds, and I’d learned the hard way with pot that I had to start small. Since the maximum recommended medical dose is 50 mg, and some people take 75 mg to help them sleep at night, I figured I couldn’t possibly get into any trouble with that. In fact, I thought I might just pass out exhausted and not feel any effects but tiredness.

Boy, was I wrong.

The effects were so instant that at first I thought it was the placebo effect. The first thing I noticed was a warm tingle all over my body, kind of like the sensation I get when drinking strong alcohol. I also noticed I tended to “zone out” on things, much like when I was on cannabis. Having heard that DPH enhanced music, I eagerly started listening, and was truly amazed at all the little nuances I caught that flew right over my head when I was sober.

Also, my pupils were noticeably dilated. This really surprised me.

However, I did notice slight chest pain. This got me a bit worried, but I figured it probably wasn’t anything major, considering how tiny my dose was.

After about an hour of this, I realized I was dead tired, and went to bed. To my surprise, my coordination was noticeably affected by the DPH. I got a little dizzy upon standing up, and changing into my pajama pants was more of a challenge than usual. I staggered into bed and slept the sleep of the dead.

When I awoke at a bit after seven, I noticed that my coordination still seemed to be slightly affected. When I went to the bathroom, to my surprise, my pupils were still dilated. However, within a couple hours both of these symptoms went away.

Overall, my trip was a positive experience. However, I sure am glad I stuck with a tiny dose.
