Hey Everyone,

It's been a busy few weeks, starting with the MDMA conference the first weekend in February. The big project right now is a complete design of a back end database for Erowid, built from the ground up. We're in the data-modeling stage...stay tuned for updates.

Otherwise we're just settling in to the new year and looking forward to spring. Hope it's going well for all of you.

1. Mindstates II Conference
   
   A bit more information about the forthcoming Mind States II conference, May 25-27. 2001 in Berkeley, CA.
   
   Both Earth and Fire Erowid will be speaking at this event.
   
   Other presenters include Erik Davis, Amanda Feilding, Lawrence Hagerty, Jon Hanna, Clark Heinrich, Michael Horowitz, Dr. Karl Jansen, Stephen Kent, Jean Millay, Cynthia Palmer, Dale Pendell and the Oracular Madness Choir, Mark Pesce, Nicholas Sand (tentative), Alexander "Sasha" Shulgin, Ann Shulgin, Huston Smith, Myron Stolaroff, K. Trout (tentative), and Zoe7.
   
   Recently added to the bill are Christian Rätsch and Claudia Müller-Ebeling.

   TICKET DEADLINE NOTICE: The deadline for the "early bird" ticket price of $130.00 is February 28. But, as a service to those on the Erowid Announcement list, this deadline has been extended to March 15. However, you must mention this e-mail in order to obtain the lower price. Tickets sold after March 15th are $160.00. As the first Mind States conference sold-out, early ticket purchase is recommended. Order information can be found at the URL above.
   
   
   
2. Sulfurous Samadhi: An Investigation of 2C-T-2 & 2C-T-7
   An indepth look at the current state of available information about 2C-T-7 and 2C-T-2 as of Feb, 2001. Includes analysis of 500 surveys collected on Erowid about side-effects, routes of administration, dosage, etc. A very thorough and interesting piece written by Murple. Highly recommended if you're interested in these substances.
   
   
   
3. New LSD Blotter Images
   A new collection of LSD blotter images has been added (they're all marked with "New"). This is an especially nice collection as they all come with high quality full-sheet images. Thanks to Apothocary for sharing most of these with us.
   
   
   
4. Many Ask Erowid Answers
   Ask Erowid has really become active this past month. Nearly 50 questions have been answered, adding a lot of good data and detail in areas where the site doesn't quite provide the info people are looking for. We're getting a lot of questions these days, and can't even begin to answer them all, but it's a good system for helping to fill in some of the holes.
   
   
   
5. l-Tryptophan and 5-HTP Vault
   Several new pieces about l-Tryptophan and 5-HTP. Primarily focused around the possible connection between Tryptophan and Eosinophilia-Myalgia Syndrome (EMS)
   
   
   
6. 1,4-Butanediol Vault
   A few of the basics about 1,4-Butanediol.
   
   
   
7. Quaaludes Vault
   A few of the basics about Methaqualone.
   
   
   
8. New Donation System
   We've finally implemented a more stable and versatile donations system. For those of you who have tried to make a donation in the past couple of months and gotten an error...the system should now be working. If you experience any problems, PLEASE let us know.
