Erowid Announcement #47
September 12, 2004
Friends of Erowid,
Things will slow down on Erowid for the next couple of weeks as we will be at the Mindstates Oaxaca conference. We're hoping to spend some time looking into the psychoactives in the region: chocolate, mezcal, psilocybin mushrooms, Salvia divinorum, hot chile peppers, and perhaps more.
This is the longest we'll have been away from Erowid in nine years. We are leaving the library in the capable hands of Spoon and the rest of the Erowid crew. Thanks to everyone who contributes to the project, you have helped change the world for the better.
The summer Matching Grant Campaign was quite successful -- nearly all of the available funds were matched with donations of $200 or more. To everyone who was able to contribute: thank you for your help keeping Erowid available and growing.
For Burning Man this year, two of us stayed home while Christopher (Art Vault Curator) and Spoon (Editor) kept an eye on things in the desert. Earth & I figured that nine years in a row in Black Rock City was more than enough. Instead of settling in on the playa, a newer member of the Erowid crew came and stayed with us and we worked together on some exciting new updates to the Erowid search engine. A beta of one piece of this (Topic Lookup) is announced below, but there are some other interesting, useful, and amusing changes coming in the near future.
We welcome submissions, suggestions, criticisms, or corrections at submissions@erowid.org.
peace,
fire & earth
