From: Lamont Granquist Newsgroups: alt.drugs,alt.drugs.psychedelics Subject: New Book on LSD Date: 23 Nov 1994 23:48:22 GMT Message-ID: <3b0kc6$86e@nntp1.u.washington.edu> Henderson, Leigh A. Glass, William J. (eds). "LSD: Still With Us After All These Years." Macmillian. ISBN#0029143950. 1994 I briefly skimmed this book in the UW bookstore and it seems to be reasonably decent. It was based on information from NIDA resulting from (if i remember correctly) some seminars which followed the media hysteria over the "comeback" of LSD we saw about 2 years or so ago. It doesn't engage in a lot of anti-LSD hysteria, but there are some subtle biases -- for example, from what i saw it had a tendency to quote your usual eloquent high school LSD users. Why fucking bother trying to draw conclusions about what LSD is like when your sample is so totally biased? Of course, what they're not getting is people who are older and employed and don't exactly go around flaunting their LSD use. They wind up with those who are younger, who are drop outs, or who've managed to get into trouble from it... Anyway it *did*, however, seem to be devoid of the usual scare stories about LSD. It would be useful when trying to argue with people who are substantially negative on LSD... -- Lamont Granquist Q: How many economists does it take to change a light bulb? N: None! If it needed fixing, the market would take care of it!
