ACTIVE CONSTITUENTS :
Arecoline is a volatile oil released from the nut by saliva and lime. Other constituents in the nut include arecaidin, arecaine and choline. Betel leaf contains chavicol, allylpyrocathechol, chavibetol and cadinene.
