“Interaction of serotonin and lysergic acid diethylamide in the Siamese fighting fish”.
J. Pharmacol. Exper. Therap.. 1957;121:130.
Abstract
Siamese fighting fish (Betta splendens) were subjected to a stress situation involving hypoxia, the air surface of the container being partitioned off by gauze. Under these conditions, the intensity of stress-induced activity of the fish was decreased by LSD and increased by serotonin. Both agents reduced the duration of activity. When both agents were added together, serotonin potentiated the effect of LSD on intensity of activity and increased the effect of LSD on the duration of activity.
