“Pharmacodynamics of LSD and mescaline”.
J. Nerv. Ment. Dis.. 1957;125:424.
Abstract
Brief review of pharmacodynamic observations and theories which tend to explain the psychotomimetic action of LSD and mescaline. The various observations, theories, speculations and opininions suggest that neither drug acts directly but acts by the mediation or interference with other chemicals (metabolites, serotonin, epinephrine,) or by causing inhibition of synaptic transmission in the brain.
