Psychotropic drugs.. 1957;p73.
Abstract
Five patterns of behavior were established for cats, hamsters and monkeys. These were sociability, contentment, excitement, defensive hostility and aggressive hostility. . Studies in cats: Sociability was increased by chlorpromazine (CPZ) and decreased by LSD and methamphetamine (MA). Contentment was markedly decreased by LSD and MA and unchanged by CPZ. Excitement was greatly increased by LSD and MA. Defensive hostility was decreased by CPZ but not by LSD and MA. Aggressive hostility was increased by CPZ, LSD and MA. . Studies in hamsters: Sociability was increased by CPZ and decreased by LSD and MA. Contentment was unchanged by CPZ, LSD and MA. Excitement was decreased by CPZ, increased by MA and insignificantly increased by LSD. Defensive hostility was decreased by CPZ and increased by LSD and MA. Aggressive hostility was decreased slightly by CPZ and MA and increased by LSD. . Studies in monkeys (only CPZ): Sociability, contentment and excitement increased, defensive hostility and aggressive hostility decreased.
