“A theory on the mechanism of paranoid reaction in experimental psychosis”.
IInd International Congress for Psychiatry, Congress Report. 1957;II:306.
Abstract
LSD [dosage?] was given to 25 normal subjects. Fifteen exhibited a paranoid reaction. With one exception, this reaction was a gradual, predictable outcome of the collapse of the framework on which reality testing rests. The collapse was caused by perceptual anomalies and changes of affect. The paranoid coloring was due to apprehension when auditory sensations controlled visual or bodily sensations to a threatening degree. . Psychological tests (including the Rorschach test) indicated whether the reaction to LSD would be psychotic but in only a few instances did they indicate whether a paranoid reaction would occur.
