“Elektromyographische Untersuchungen der Wirkung von LSD 25 auf die neuromuskuläre Reizübertragung beim Kaninchen”.
Experientia. 1959;15:351.
Abstract
In rabbits the sciatic nerve was stimulated electrically (frequency of 100/second) and the action potentials were recorded in the flexor muscles. All drugs were given i.v. The doses of LSD used were 0.05, 0.1 and 0.15 mg. . 0.06 mg/kg d-tubocurarine partly blocked neuromuscular transmission. This effect was slightly antagonized by 5 mg. 5-HT. . LSD had no effect on neuromuscular transmission, did not antagonize the effects of curare and did not modify the slight antagonism of 5-HT to curare. . These negative results may be due to the fact that LSD only very slightly antagonizes true cholinesterase. They also show that antagonism between LSD and 5-HT is not demonstrable in all structures.
