“Las psicosis experimentales. Estudio comparativo entre las del LSD-25, Mescalina y Cánnabis indica, considerando la problematica psiquiatrica que plantean.”.
Frontis. 1958.
Abstract
30-160 mcg. LSD were given to 26 normal subjects (orally in 21, i.v. in 5) and to 19 mental patients, most of whom were schizophrenics or neurotics. . 0.5 Gm. mescaline was given orally or i.v. to 15 subjects including 10 normal subjects. . Ten males suffering from hashish intoxication had to smoke 10-12 pipes of Cannabis indica. . Both LSD and mescaline elicited specific exogenic psychoses, the mental reactions depending more on the drug given than on individual factors. The results of the Rorschach test after LSD differed from those after mescaline. The results of intelligence tests were identical after both preparations. Under both drugs EEG showed a tendency to flattening and to accelerated irregular rhythms. There was no symbolic correlation between the depth personality and the content of the experiences induced by the two drugs. . In contract to LSD and mescaline, hashish induced a non-specific intoxication and the reactions were directly correlated with the fundamental personality features. . The psychoses induced by LSD and mescaline are attributed to sympathetic stimulation and cortical hyperexcitation.
