Abstract
In all subjects (students, nurses, attendants, doctors and scientists) the factors which were important in determining the reaction of individuals to LSD (usually 1 mcg/kg) were investigated: . Personal factors: In general young, single, people-oriented subjects of lower level of education had a more severe LSD reaction. . Familiarity with the situation if conductive to milder subjective severity. In presence of co-subjects, anxiety was reduced and tasks were most successfully completed. . Situational determinants: Impersonal, hostile and investigative attitude of others led to devaluative distortions and aroused hostile responses in the subjects. Flexibility, familiarity, acceptance, and presence of others with common culture ameliorate the LSD reaction, while rigidity, unfamiliarity, nonacceptance, and absence of others with a common culture potentiate the reaction. . Personality determinants of the reaction: The interactive (extrovert) subjects tended to have the more affective psychoses and mild reactions. The reaction of the inactive (introvert) subjects were all mild to moderate and moderate; and those of the reactive subject mild or moderately severe. No dependent subject had less than a mild to moderate severity. . Subjects with mild or severe reactions had personality types which predisposed them toward such a reaction. .

PURPOSE: 5-80f subjects generally have illusions after administration of LSD. Adventurous people are more eager to take the drug than other types. There is no correlation between the 3 dimensions of severity - subjective, psychiatric and social
