Abstract
In rats, a single injection of LSD (1 mg/kg i.p.) markedly alters the electrophoretic pattern of proteins extracted from the liver. This phenomenon, which is also provoked by BOL 148, is completely reversible within 24 hours. It is most probably related to the incorporation of LSD into liver proteins as demonstrated, with radioactive LSD, by Keup. . The chronological development of the liver protein changes was studied in experiments with administration of LSD at different times before the rats were killed. From the results it is concluded that the concentration of LSD in the liver starts almost immediately after injection (i.p. or i.v.) and reaches its maximum within 2 to 4 hours. This agrees with the results of Keup and those of other investigators on the distribution of injected LSD. . On repeated administration, this effect of LSD decreases in intensity but never to the degree observed for central responses to LSD. .
