“Direcative analysis of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) and 2,5-dimethoxy-4-methylamphetamine (STP) on thin-layer chromatograms ”.
J.Chromatog.. 1976;121(1):165-69.
Abstract
A TLC method for the simultaneous quantitative determination of LSD and 2,5-dimethoxy-4-methylamphetamine (STP) is reported. LSD was synthesized from d-lysergic acid (Sigma-Chem,) and subjected to TLC with CHCl3:EtOH:MeOH (9:2:1) or acetone:CHCl3: Me OH (3:1:1) developers and detected at 310 nm by UV light. The response was linear in the range 0.1-2.0 mcg, and the relative standard deviation was 1.1-4.7%; (STP) was treated analogously. The method was applied to mixtures of 10-30 mcg LSD, 400 mcg STP and starch (10 mcg). The samples were treated with tartaric acid basified and then extracted with CHC13 (3x). The extract was evaporated and the residue was taken up in CHC13 before TLC. The adsorptions at 300 and 400 nm were determined and recoveries of both STP and LSD from the mixtures were 93-95%. This method may be applied to the isolation of other drugs from mixtures.
