“Central dopamine-receptor stimulation bv LSD and lisuride”.
Experientia. 1977;33(6):808.
Abstract
Lisuride (LIS) a methylisoergolenyl derivative, provoked signs of central stimulation in rats similar to those observed after LSD. The Authors therefore compared LIS with LSD in Ungerstedt's rotation model in rats with unilateral 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OH-DA)-lesions in the nigro-striatal pathway and as antagonists of the neuroleptic-induced catalepsy. LIS and LSD induced dose-dependent turning towards the unlesioned side. LIS was 10-20x more potent and considerably longer acting than LSD. Haloperidol blocked the LIS induced rotation competely, whereas the LSD-induced turning was only reduced partially. LIS and LSD, injected 3 hr after the neuroleptic prochlorperazine, antagonized the neuroleptic-induced catalepsy in a dose-dependent manner. The effect of LIS lasted for at least 3 hr. that of LSD about hr. Since qualitatively the same effects are observed with the dopamine-mimetic apomorphine, it is proposed that LSD and LIS stimulate central dopaminereceptors.
