“Electrophysiologically-identified Serotonin Receptors In The Rat CNS”.
Neuropharmacology. 1984;23(12B):1511-1520.
Abstract
One-unrelenting mainstream in psychopharmacology has been the implication of the serotonin (5-HT) system in the mechanism of action of antidepressant treatments. Indeed, ever since this notion was first suggested by the therapeutic efficacy of monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI; Pare and Sandier, 1959), new pieces of evidence have steadily been provided in support of this contention (see conclusion). This review will focus on the effect of different types of treatments on the neuronal responses mediated by electrophysiologically-characterized 5-HT receptors.
