Abstract
Pretreatment with ascorbic acid (500 mg kg-1 i.p.) antagonized the behavioral effects of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) and apomorphine, but not 5-methoxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine, in cats. The data support the hypothesis that these behavioural effects in cats are due to drug action at both 5-HT and dopamine receptors, and that the action of LSD at dopamine receptors is modulated by ascorbic acid.
