“The physiological action of the alkaloids derived from Anhalonium Lewinii”.
J Physiol. 1899 Sep 05;25(1):69-86.
Abstract
[EXCERPT] ANHALONIUM LEWINII, so called from its discoverer, Lewin, who in 1888 first directed attention to it, belongs to the small group of Melocacteae, and is native to Mexico. It makes the seventh known variety of the Anhalonia, but besides some discussion which has occurred with regard to the botanical position it should occupy, it has attracted but little attention from investigators, probably largely on account of the difficulty in obtaining specimens. The genus Anhaloniuim is easily distinguished from Echinocactus and Mamillaria in being quite free from spines.
