Drug of Choice
Teafaerie here! I’m away teaching Flow Arts in Haiti this month and I don’t currently have any access to the Internet. Therefore, in lieu of my usual column, please enjoy this silly little sonnet that I texted to my patient, supportive, and all together marvelous husband on Valentine’s Day.
It’s cheesy but it’s true, folks: there’s never been a drug as good as true love. It’s free, legal, safe and strong. It is more than a little bit addictive, though…
P.S. – Love for yourself totally counts! (so does love for your pet, your planet, your species, etc.)
Drug of Choice
Our love’s the most spectacular of highs.
The best effects of all my favorite drugs
are met within the flashing of your eyes,
and bliss is in your kisses and your hugs.
It’s true, I take you every chance I get.
Habituation is your only con;
but what the hell, you’ve never hurt me yet,
nor ever have you failed to turn me on.
Like acid you have opened up my mind.
You heal me like the mother Aya’s touch.
Like mushrooms you refuse to be defined.
Like ecstasy you warm my heart so much.
You’re sweet as wine but also bold as booze.
As chill as pot, as bright as DMT;
I like ’em all but if I had to choose
my love, you’d be the only drug for me!
