The Ayahuasca diet and regimen includes fasting, having a clean system, detoxed and so on, and except for the elephant in the room of "no fats" it goes well with the ketogenic diet. After some research I found it evident that this is true in a normal diet, where fats are not used as the body`s primary source of fuel, hence no production of ketones, and energy is more likely to be stored (which is not a process favorable in the process of detoxification and cleaning out the gut). Another reason would be the traditional sources of fats, which would be primarily animals, which should not be part of the diet.
Ok, I'm also a balanced coffee/caffeine drinker, and while all previous Aya sessions have been completely free of caffeine days before, this time (after other reports of it not affecting), I wanted to make an careful attempt, for also reduce the caffeine withdrawal symptoms, which definitely has been present earlier.
(I know people would out a different tag on this mixture of plants than "real" Aya, but as I see it, Aya is a specific diagnostic-tool and a function, not a specific set of plants.)
Syrian Rue is definitely a peculiar lady, which (as many has experienced) one does not want too much of. I have previously experimented back and forth with the dosages
I have previously experimented back and forth with the dosages
Trip:
10.00; My usual butter-MCT Oil breakfast-tea;
Camomille and a small amount of Yerba Mate (caffeine, bromine) + 1,5g Syrian Rue (boiled by itself, 30 min with lemon)
No noticeable effects, felt fairly normal with energy to prepare my crib.
15.00 Tea; 1,5g Syrian rue, MCT oil, dash of coconut milk.
+30min: Energy started rising, and I was in an immensely effective mode.
+1h - 3h: Organized, washed and fixed everything needed in a speed and effectiveness similar to the effects of Modafinil + caffeine!
I started to question if I should proceed with the ceremony later in the night, but as I calmed down and started meditating I felt solid enough and ready.
18.30: 1.5-2g Syrian Rue Tea (too much)
19.00: 9x 0-capsules of Mimosa Hostillis (6.5-7g)
The effect of the previous weakening rue took again a dominant effect, which continued the thought processes present earlier in the day. It felt like the rue overlapped each other and got amplified without the nausea usually present. Like the system had already got accustomed, and no longer had the urge to a sudden cleansing.
The mind was racing, and I understood the caffeine must have been amplified to an enormous degree by the rue. In general I have fairly good control over the chatter in the head, but this was out of my control, ongoing, fast and usual periods without any real content (which is terror), just babbling.
10.00 (ca?) Mimosa always has a slow onset, much slower than Acacia confusa, and (without having much perception of time at this point).
Vague close eye hallucinations, the tunnels and for some reason vivid "travels" in to the mouth and down the throat several times, before I managed to snap out. Luckily some control over "where to go", but I believe it would have been a gory ride if taken more. The common aya-trip-feeling was of a weaker order, present, but not very radical/profound/heavy/trippy as it is other times. The "usual" life lessons and thought processes went on for about two hours before I had to throw up, pretty standard, but the over-all nausea of this trip was comfortably low. When it happen it happen, but not with two hours of thinking about it first.
I started to feel more than usual intoxicated after the vomiting, and to some extent blacked out on the bathroom. I sat there for a very long time, first without "knowing" that it was possible to be anywhere else, and then for a long time just not able to get anywhere, but aware that the bed would be a much healthier place for my physical body (than crippled in a corner of the floor for hours.) In more or less all previous experiences with aya,
After finally getting back to bed the sweat began seriously, still with the racing mind which started to be very tired of racing, and had ran out of stuff to think about a long time ago. Stuff like "sitting on a chair, and there is a lamp on the table, and that`s it"- thoughts made me feel more than cognitively disabled. Delirious tendencies.
A longer period of this, feeling increasingly intoxicated to the point I hoped all my both mental and physical functions would not take serious harm by this. It turned in to a plain fight against the poison, as in a heavy fever.
03.30-04.00: Suddenly a strong wave of heavy sweating started, with the feeling of goo actually being pressed out of me, and a moment later I woke up, clear, like I won the battle.
It was a hard hit on the body, and I felt weak and sore in my whole body the day after. Very similar to heavy fever.
Conclusion:
1: Do not combine caffeine with Aya or Syrian Rue
2: A pure Keto-diet worked perfectly. I've seldom felt this clean, and at the same time not depleted of energy when going in to a session.
3: The spacing out of the intake of Syrian Rue seemed in itself like a good thing, easing the nausea and priming the body, but should be in a way lover dosage. I believe this to be the intoxication. It also made the "tripping part" last more or less 11-hours, which is exhaustively long. Normally this lasts 3-6 hours.
4: Do not run around like a rabbit the whole day before a session.
5: If not doing the DMT (Mimosa/Acacia/Chacrona), Syrian rue seems to work great as a nootropic, but in careful amounts, and not too late.
