This was my second time experiencing psilocybin mushrooms. I felt that after being able to handle a gram my first trip, I was ready to try a higher dose.

I started off the evening hanging out with my friend, who was hosting a party at his house. It’s worth noting that I feel comfortable around this friend and in his residence, so there was no stress concerning him or his house. It was near 7:00 and my friend gave me a beer, to kick off the night. I wasn’t planning on drinking more than the beer, but I thought that one would be okay, especially beforehand. As more people showed, so did the mushrooms. After making the purchase around 8:00, I ate around three grams and waited for them to kick in. My stomach felt bloated as they digested, food that I was interested in before made me sick to think about.

An hour passed, and I still wasn’t feeling anything.
An hour passed, and I still wasn’t feeling anything.
Someone had mentioned they were going outside to smoke a blunt (about a gram and a half of marijuana, rolled in cigar casing), and I followed. There was eventually a group of four of us smoking and talking about life in general. After 20 minutes of smoking and talking, I was ready to head back inside. Right before I did, however, I saw an extremely liquefied version of a spoke wheel, made up of very funky, flowy rainbow colors. This image didn’t register as a physical object and I knew I was just visually thinking about it, however I knew it wasn’t a “normal” visual thought and I felt like something was happening.

I went back inside to discover a bustle of people and some strange things happening. I looked at my friend’s counter, which had an overlapping triangular pattern to it. The once still shapes were flowing freely, as if they were animated and I was watching a motion graphics video. I looked at a mattress my friend had propped up against the wall, and it seemed very interesting to me. Instead of a regular white color as it normally was, it was tinted a very dull shade of mint green and seemed to be radiating the color, almost like it was softly glowing. I kept seeing the ohm symbol as a pattern on the mattress. In addition to these initial visual hallucinations, I also had an overwhelming sense of euphoria and calmness. I decided to return outside, where the group of 3 still were. We began talking and I looked up at the sky.

“Woah, there’s a lot of stars out tonight,” I said.

“What do you mean?” Everyone else collectively asked.

Though it was a clear night, my friend’s residence is in the middle of a town, and there was a street lamp nearby, obstructing a clear view of a lot of the stars. Though this was the case, I swear I was able to still see a multitude of stars. Not more than one usually can, but more so the amount you can see when in the countryside, away from light pollution. I continued to talk with this group and kept looking up at the stars. Not only was I able to see more stars than the others, who did not take mushrooms, but I also experienced visuals in the spaces between visible stars. I saw what I can best describe as a static red web of connection, spanning from star to star. It was all encompassing, and gave me the feeling that everything is connected. Interestingly enough, when I smoke marijuana in the present, I can make this “web” come about if I focus on it (though it’s definitely not as strong visually). Aside from this visual, things expanded as they did my first time tripping. I looked at my friend’s car and his tire, rim and rear quarter panel expanded to twice as big as its normal size. I spent the majority of my night outside, as looking up and around was absolutely fascinating.

When I returned back inside, I finished the half gram of mushrooms I didn’t eat beforehand and smoked somewhere between ½ a gram and a gram of marijuana. Nothing else extremely noteworthy happened during this time, other than continued hallucinations similar to those I experienced earlier in the night, and a sense of openness. I felt a small sense of building excitement and release as the smaller dose kicked in, but it was definitely less potent than the 3 grams I consumed at the beginning of the night. 2 hours after eating the second dose, a visual flooded my head that I could feel (again, this wasn’t something I thought was physical but rather it was a completely visual thought). I am a visual person so thoughts like this are not uncommon for me, but the feeling associated with it was something new. The visual consisted of a room that had a bar in it, all of which was a grey hue. There was a neon sign on the wall that said “LSD”, colored green, red and yellow respectively. It was very colorful in contrast to the grey room, and for some reason summarized how I felt at that point in the trip, which was around five and a half hours after the initial dose.

The entire trip lasted around 7-8 hours, and it was definitely a memorable time.
