I have read about an unusual condition called Wood Lovers Paralysis (WLP) that can occur when someone consumes a sufficient quantity of Psilocybin Cyans or P.Azures. I am glad that I had read the article otherwise I would have been rushed to a trauma ward and walked out $!!! Poorer.
I have frequently used P. Cubensis and still do, whenever I need to, and I had never experienced this WLP condition. But last summer I gathered some P-Cyans from two naturally wooded locations (Yes they were definitely P-Cyans) I dried them. Kept good notes.
A few days later I consumed two grams, yes that is a small dose, but these samples bruised a deep purple. Well I was surprised at the potency! I had a very memorable and pleasant experience.
The following week I was home alone and decided to shake my day. I chewed 3 grams of P-Cyans that I had collected from the other site. The experience was good, but later that day I grew tired and drifted off. When I awoke I felt normal, but could not focus my eyes. It was as if my dominant eye (left) was contending with my right submissive eye.
I stood up and managed to pull my Levis on somehow, but my hands soon lost all strength. I willed (and willed!) to fasten the waist-button on my jeans, but my fingers paid no attention to my commands.
I willed (and willed!) to fasten the waist-button on my jeans, but my fingers paid no attention to my commands.
In retrospect, this was a frightening experience, but then it was understandable and I knew that the conditions would "metabolize". I began to feel a little better.
Now, I live on the shore of an island in SE Alaska, so I need to pay attention to the local tides. I walked to the beach in order to pull my skiff out (it is on a pulley-loop) when, again, I began to feel extremely weak. I could not walk back up the shore! It was a herculean struggle to place one foot in front of the other while holding the anchor-line. If I had been observed I am sure that it would have been seen as a skit! Somehow I made it back to my net-shed.
The following afternoon recovered 100% and felt the typical afterglow that follows the day after, but was troubled by this experience.
I hope that my open-ness and frankness will encourage anyone else who has had a similar experience to reach out. I value mushrooms very much and hope that this short account will increase understanding and reduce harm.
