The night starts on my birthday I had just turned 19 and wanted to get messed up for it. I had decided to buy 16 grams of shrooms for me and one of my buddies to take at a friends apartment. We arrive at the apartment start breaking down the shrooms into smaller pieces so we don’t have to chow down on the entire thing (they tasted like dirt still). The friends apartment we were at had already had people over and they had taken a mixture of shrooms, Hydros, and some THC. They were past the peak of their trip and we decided to have them trip sit us.

Around 30 minutes in we had started to feel the natural body high of the shrooms but not the visual or mental high. 30 minutes later it hit me like a truck. My eyes couldn’t focus on one specific thing my mind was running a million miles a minute and suddenly the corner of the room was the darkest part of the house. The corner just kept giving me awful vibes every time I looked at it. Me and the buddy that I took shrooms with eventually decided to go on a walk to see what the visuals will do to the outside, we walk out and are immediately greeted with an amazing feeling of warmth. In the house I was sweating profusely but outside in the middle of the summer in the south somehow felt so at home. Around 15 minutes into our walk a cat comes up to us and I pet it for about 5 minutes, my friend kept walking not seeing that I had stopped.

Now idk if there was ever actually a cat because when one of our trip sitters found me a mile away from their apartment they had told me I was crouched down looking at the concrete. My friend was on an overpass watching cars go by when I get this awful feeling like something is about to happen and I discuss it with the friend trip sitting and he just reassures me we will be fine. Worst mistake I get back to the apartment to find the whole apartment is dark, I can’t see anything more than 3 ft in front of me. At that time I had come to the realization that the shrooms are kicking my ass right now and decide to smoke some weed to mellow it out, it didn’t work I started to see hands grabbing at me from under the bed and at one point when one of the hands touched me I came back to a reality. I could see but the corner was still darker than ever, it was my friends hand that touched my thigh, he said I was breathing heavy and I was looking all around the room and not talking. I had been holding a cat that was staring me in the eyes and I heard a voice say go away. Then boom the cat was gone.

Now this trip had a spiritual awakening for me as I didn’t mention that the gut feeling I had all night came true. One of my best friends since middle school had gotten in a real bad accident and lost his life, I was still near my peak but just past it when they had told me, I remember walking outside and my whole world being black, I heard everybody talking and I could feel my heart beating out of my chest. I walked to a park near the apartments and sat there for what seemed like hours jumping from thought to thought til my friend sat next to me and watched as the sun came up and our trips went down.

I’m sure it was just the trip making me overthink everything about it but something in me thinks that on a spiritual level I was told the bad intentions of everybody around me and so so much more.
