Recipe for Poppy Tea and Experiance
Before I attempted my first brewing of Poppy Tea I did my best to research the information that was already out there. I found several conflicting reports, reports with a variety of extraction methods, etc, etc. As with every recreational plant dosage, height, weight, body chemistry are all important parts in finding out what works for an individual i.e. doesn't make the individual sick, lol.
My recipe is potent(for me) and easy.
10-15 poppy pods, dried
4 cups of water (1 cup per 3-5 pods, depending on how strong you want to make it.)
1 20 oz bottle of Dr. Pepper.
1/4 cup lemon juice
I crush the pods up in a ziplock baggy with a hammer as small as I can, then put then in a blender/food processer, the more pulverized the pods the easier the alkaloids are removed,i.e. better buzz. I put in a mixing bowl while I prepare the water.
I put water in a pot and heat it on the stove until it is very hot but I can still put your finger in it without burning it. I do not boil, also I stay with the pot and moniter it with my finger every 30 seconds to tell if the temp. is right.
When the water is the temprature of VERY hot bath water, steam rising, I add 1/4 cup of lemon juice the acid helps remove the alkaloids. I keep heating for 60 more seconds. Then I add contents of pot to mixing bowl with poppies, stir, then cover with tinfoil, after 15 minutes I stir again, recover with foil, wait 30 minutes, strain out of bowl into a drinking container that I can cover. There is the tea, I have found this mixture is strong enough that a 1/4 cup in a coffee mug does the trick for me. Any more produces stomach cramps and nausea and doesn't REALLY intensify the effect. Some people tell you to mix it with stong teas and stuff, but I have found that doing it like a shot with a dr. pepper chaser covers the taste better. I hate dr pepper too, but the tase is alot better than the tea, and masks the smell/taste , so no gag reflex. Also, I keep some exlax and fleet enemas on hand. This tea stops me up like no other. Thanks
