Firstly I would like to state the purpose of this report which is to inform and educate beginers about ketamine.

Personally I would describe myself as an experienced consumer of psycodelic drugs, on the night in question I had already taken an ecstasy tablet, a small amount of amphetamines, mushrooms and drunk a couple of cans of beer (5%). The reason I choose this particular drug to comment upon is because I know how potentially addictive it can be and how it can incapacitate people to such a degree that they are totally unaware of what they are doing but at the same time I have always enjoyed myself on this drug and as such it presents the ultimate dilema of whether a drug is 'good' or 'bad'.

The scene is a small house party at a friend's house, even in such a safe space I would be wary of taking this drug because if people turn up and cause trouble while you are on ketamine then I will not be in a state to deal with the situation. The situation begins while I was in a small side room out of the way of the main body of people, my friend has just taken some and I asked if he had any more that he was willing to give to me, he said yes so I made a couple of lines for the both of us but then he said that he didnt want any so I did both all by myself. I stayed with him for a few minutes but after realising that he was beyond human interaction I thought it was best to go into a more populated area while I still had that ability. So I went into the kitchen and sat down at which point the chemicals started taking their full affect, I had already taken mushrooms at this stage and I became fairly tired so that is what I thought was causing me to feel the way I did but the experiences that I now felt were far beyond mushrooms.

This is where the best part of the trip happened, I felt like there was some sort molten liquid within me, bubbling and moving.
It was physical pleasure on a level that was different than I had ever experienced before. I even shut my eyes because I could not deal with everything that was being thrown at me. Some time afterwards (this was less than 5 minutes later) I came round and wondered into the dance floor, I danced but even this seemed somewhat stranged so I sat down near a friend I explained to this person vaguely what I was going through, they understood but then I proceeded to have a conversation with them which I now regret having while I was in such a state. I then went back to the kitchen to gather myself and get back to normal.

Thus far I have described how I felt at the time, however after further thought and with the benefit of hindsight there are points where things could have turned against me. Later that day I began remembering things that happened during the trip, for example I remember someone pointing and laughing at me. It is likely that this was simply a friend having a bit of a laugh but due to the fact that this was close to the time where I closed my eyes it could quite have feasably been this individual making a valid critisism of the state that I was in. Also in the same trip I distinctly remember someone commenting on whether I had a girlfriend and shortly after someone mentioned the name of a lady that I had previously gone out with. This is a situation that could have lead to my complete humiliation but somehow I am sure that I avoided it, further it is quite feasable that this was the ketamine relflecting thoughts that were going through my own head. While in the trip it felt like it could have lasted for many hours but fortunatly one the great beauties of ketamine is that it only lasts for an hour or two which meant that the entire day was not lost.

This is where the great dilema of ketamine comes back to me, I felt a huge amount of pleasure but at the expense of my potential embarrasment and humiliation. Due the shortage of memory cells from this time I am unable to peice together exactly what happened which is another downside to ketamine. I am fairly sure that I didnt make a complete idiot of myself because I have met people from party since and they havent mentioned anything (yet) but my survival from this situation I believe is largly due to luck, having prepared myself mentally for some of the situations that I ended up in and being around good friends that didnt have too much fun at my expense.

The conclusion from the trip is that for me ketamine is an amazing party drug when consumed in small doses and providing I doesnt become dependent on it. If I was in a potentially hostile enviroment then I would avoid it simply because I dont like getting into trouble.
