Mimosa Hostilis Letdown

Looking forward to the new year, 125g of purple pink M. hostilis rootbark was purchased from an honest online vendor. New years Eve, it was pulverized with a bean grinder. Noting the pinkish smoke emminating from the top when opening, and from internet posted pictures, I knew it was an authentic product.

It was split into three 20 oz bottles, with purified cold water added. It was soaked for about an hour, three times for each bottle, and the contents poured together into a large glass pitcher. about an hour later, it was split into three glasses, each holding about 12oz of this dark burgundy substance, with fine particles settling towards the bottom.

Three people chugged down this noxious tasting brew, with an alcohol chaser to remove the lingering aftertaste. (I believe it was a sweet liquor.) When the nausea set in I had hopes for the best, but two hours later, after the nausea had subsided, there was still no effects felt, in all three people.

Ott must have been mistaken in his premise that it is orally active without an MAOI. I dont believe the alcohol would negate the effects, but I am not an expert on the subject.
