Very Interesting Plant

I recently ordered an ounce of Calea zacatechichi (Dream Herb) from an online distributor, used it twice, and thought I’d write about what I felt and thought about it. I am fairly experienced with most drugs, though I don’t use anything but alcohol and tobacco nowadays.

The first night, I was not under the influence of any other substance. I rolled a cigarette-sized “joint” and smoked it on my balcony right before bed. About halfway through the “joint” I felt a feeling of “well-being”…I wouldn’t quite call it that. I think it was more of a calm feeling throughout my body and mind. As I went to bed, I felt a relaxed feeling that I can only describe and mild and strong all at once. I can’t quite remember the dreams I experienced exactly as they happened; but I do know that I had one lucid dream, and at least 3 distinct non-lucid dreams that were more vivid than normal, though this could have been influenced by the fact that I was excited about taking the herb

.

The second night, I drank about 4 beers before I started my preparations. I don’t know if this affected my experience or not, but it’s worth mentioning. I steeped 2-3 grams of dried leaf in about one cup of water for 30 minutes. I’ve read several reports describing the bitter taste of this herb when used as a tea, but I thought I’d just be hardcore and suck it down…Oh shit was I ever wrong. This stuff was the most disgusting, vile concoction I have ever tried to swallow. It had a bitterness that almost induced vomiting...and the worst part was that it stuck around in the same way that taking a shot of whiskey does. I tried washing my mouth with water, orange juice, and by brushing my teeth, but nothing helped. I was barely able to get half a cup down before I gave up…but all was not lost! I started to feel the “calm” from the previous night about halfway through the ˝ cup that I managed to swallow. I went to bed about 20 min after I stopped drinking the tea, and it was much the same as the night before. I had at least one lucid dream, though I can’t remember completely what it was about. The rest of my dreams were very vivid, but not lucid.

All-in-all, this plant definitely has tangible effects…It does not get me high, but it was a very interesting experience. I really look forward to taking a higher dose...though I will never try the tea again. I will most likely make an alcohol extract with the rest of it. It seems like the least disruptive way to take it. Hopefully it stays legal.
