I'm a musician, I live breathe and sleep music. And occasionally a beautiful song will come to me in a dream or in my head. And recently I've discovered that it happens on drugs too. I've not been too experienced with drugs on purpose. I've had plenty of friends to try them for me and tell me what to expect. And a few who fucked themselves up. But along with pretty regular cannabis smoking, I'd always had a strong interest and curiosity about psychedelics. But it was much stronger than curiosity, as if it were inevitable. As if they were already part of my destiny.

Once in high school, such things were made available to me if I really wanted them. And I had the biggest urge to get my hands on some. So Eventually me and my girlfriend (P) had gotten some from a friend. And we were meeting some friends for a hike at a well known hiking spot in our town, so me and her decided to eat them before meeting up with them. It takes roughly 30 minutes to get to the top of the hill, and I had heard the shrooms kicked in around the same time. So I thought it might be a cool experience to hike up the hill before they kicked in so the come up would be more relaxing.

The hike was nerve racking and full of heavy breathing. When we got to the top, it was definitely more relaxing but not what I had expected. I remember climbing a tree at the top and feeling so peaceful, too peaceful. And I remember looking at the friends we'd hiked up with. They were all gossiping about other people, and I remember it was making me pissed off. I felt like it was so wrong to talk about people behind their backs, that I just left my friends without saying goodbye, and me and my girlfriend walked down the hill by ourselves. The whole rest of the trip was brilliant and strange and beautiful. I had never experienced anything like it before.

My second shroom experience was the best of all. I took a half eighth with my good friend (E), and we did the same hike up the big hill to the trees. Eating them before the hike and coming up right as we got to the top. I remember and reorganizing my backpack several times. I just wasn't satisfied with the way everything fit into it. I remember feeling the trees root, and it was the most solid thing we'd ever felt. Me and E were cracking up at this unusually 'solid' tree root. Well once we were HIGH we were ready to GO, so we started making the beautiful trek down the hill again. I turned on some of my favorite music and let myself go. I felt like dancing wildly, I felt so primitive. I felt like getting naked, like hunting, or going into battle or something. It felt epic and indescribable. But I was in touch with the real me at that point, and I was in love with it.
I was in touch with the real me at that point, and I was in love with it.

Once we got to the bottom, we stopped to admire all the mountains. To me they looked like they were breathing back and forth. Calmly. And I wondered,'are they always doing this? Is this just the only time they allow us to see their true forms?' Then suddenly I realized there was an incredibly beautiful song playing in my head. It overwhelmed me as it seemed like a gift from the journey, and I realized I had created it. No one else had ever put it into song. I felt this incredible urge to write it and set it free. So all the way home the walk down the mountain was fucking even more epic. My footsteps were keeping the tempo, the melody was so catchy I couldn't possibly lose it, and strange lyrics kept pumping into my head. I ended up writing it when I got home and playing it with my band. It's one of our favorites now.

To this day I consider it one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I hope to return to that realm in hopes to catch another creative train, but I do not want to go in strictly for selfish purpose. And I am not yet in the right mindset to go in again. But I know I will return someday soon.
