Lactuca - L. virosa & Kava Kava

First of all, boiling or smoking the leaves of Lactuca virosa is basically useless. You need to find a high quality resin and smoke it. Yes, the resin is annoying to smoke because it oozes into your pipe. However, there is a simple trick to it. Grind up your favorite herb, (I use Pedicularis densiflora for this purpose) break off little pieces of Lactuca virosa resin, and roll the pieces around in the herbage until you have enough little balls to fill your pipe. When you smoke it, do not place the flame fully on the material; hold it a little away and you will see the material bubble and smoke as you inhale.
My reason for trying “wild lettuce opium” was that I have difficulty sleeping due to physical discomfort and also because my mind races. Now, my first few times trying were unsuccessful until I discovered the method mentioned above. I only kept trying because I have great faith in the vendor I bought it from; he sells excellent products.
My first successful time with “wild lettuce opium” I took 8 large hits, and held them in for a good thirty seconds, then lay down on my couch. Nothing happened for about 3- 5 minutes and I wasn't really expecting much anyway. Then a very comfortable, tingling warmth settled over my body and I was deliciously relaxed for about 2 hours. Also, my mind seemed to move in a gentle flow rather than racing in circles. After the two hours I went to bed. I slept well and had vivid dreams. They weren't particularly meaningful dreams, but they were satisfying.
The next time I tried it I took several capsules of Kava an hour before smoking 10 hits of the resin and the effect was downright euphoric! I kept laughing and I kept stretching my arms and legs because it felt fantastic to do so.
I wish it were appropriate to mention the vendor's name but you'll have to find some good resin on your own. Be safe, and be patient. In my experience, the effect is worth the trouble of smoking the resin.
