Calea zacatechichi - 1g oral (brewed tea)
Damiana - 1g smoked
Blue Lotus 1g
During a time when I'd taken a break from smoking cannabis I was exploring a number of psychoactive plants such as Salvia Divinorum. I was sent a 1 gram sample of this dreaming herb and damiana with my purchase of 25g blue lotus. Having enjoyed my experience with mugwort (artimisia vulgaris) I was quite excited about testing this new exotic leaf.
Throughout the afternoon I had smoked a number of damiana cigarettes and made tea with half of the blue lotus. Spending the day relaxing in the quiet of my home I felt little effect.
Toward the end of the evening I proceeded to make a cup of tea using 1g Calea zacatechichi and the remaining blue lotus. It was quite foul.
Smoking the last of the 1g damiana I proceeded to jump into bed. This is where the difficulties began...
During sleep state I was confronted by ever shifting mutations of creatures that would bombard my close vision. Horses heads on chicken bodies would morph into piranha goats. 7 legged grotesque monsters would claw at me and bite toward me. There were unspeakable creatures that I felt had the intent of striking absolute fear into me. I woke after perhaps 1hr.
Attempting to sleep again was difficult, these images were haunting. Finally getting back to sleep I see them again, only now I wake with muscle spasms in my legs, I can't stay still!
The muscle spasms continued on for many hours, making sleep impossible! But, eventually it died down and I did get back to sleep, only to be met by these terrifying creatures once more! I would wake in cold sweats every hour.
I would wake in cold sweats every hour.
Sleep became difficult for about 7 days following the tea I made. And the images I saw stay with me today.
In retrospect it is possible the dosage, else the combination of alkaloids were not suitable for a productive experience. The experience has however put me off using Calea zacatechichi again. Mugwort was a superior lucid dreaming experience.
